Meet Veronica

It all started with my grandma’s love for plants

Growing up in Ecuador, I observed the love and care that my abuelita Carli took of her plants. One by one, she removed the dying leaves, talked to each one, and watered them with love. It was clear that houseplants were a great source of joy for my abuelita. In 2001 my family moved to Charlotte, the place I still call my home. After many years of enjoying everything Charlotte has to offer, in 2017 I decided to take my next big step and moved to Spain to pursue my master's degree in marketing. This was where my love of houseplants truly began.

Wanting to take a piece of home with me, when I moved abroad I began collecting houseplants. Plants reminded me of fond memories spent with my abuelita. Unfortunately, I wasn’t born with a green thumb and needed a bit of help. I struggled to care for my plants and even had a few plant casualties along the way. Luckily, my abuelita was there to help me learn how to care for my plants.

One year later, I returned to Charlotte. Fresh off my master's program, I realized I wasn’t meant for the corporate world. It has always been my dream to own a business and give back to the Charlotte community. When considering what brings me joy, and what I could help others find joy in, plants were the first thing to come to mind.

I went all in, I learned everything I could about indoor plants. I researched the benefits of owning houseplants. I learned they help purify the air, reduce stress, improve productivity, and overall, make us happier and healthier. I asked my abuelita Carli for her tricks, and through trial and error, I learned on my own. Over time, I realized I wanted to share the benefits and joys of plants with others, so, in 2019, Verde Tribe was born.

Bringing greenery into other people’s homes became my passion. By breaking down the initial fear of failure when it comes to plants, I’m able to help others grow their indoor garden and reap the benefits of having houseplants. I feel honored to share the amazing knowledge I gained from my abuelita. I’m a proud plant parent of over 130 plants, here to expertise for beautiful, lush houseplants.
